• Welcome to the Twirl Images Blog!

Twirl images was born from the frequent inquiries of friends and commercial clients to "Shoot my Wedding" and "Take Pictures of my Family". Wendy and I, have been in the photographic industry for (over) twenty years. Yes, more than two decades. I was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area. Wendy is a Pennsylvania transplant but you would hardly know it. We have one son, Willy Gene. He was named after Wendy's grandfather, my grandfather and my favorite cat, but don't tell him that. We have 2 large dogs; an Australian Shepard, Gaia, and a Golden Retriever mix, Scout. My current sport of choice is Ultimate Frisbee, NOT Frisbee Golf. Golf is for sissies.  In addition to our own home, we love the tranquil mountains of North Carolina and go there as often as the public school system allows..

Our desire is to bring the same care and dedication to Twirl Images as we do for our commercial advertising and editorial clients. Get in on the grass roots of this new endeavor. We are just getting the word out, so, if you like what you see, please tell a friend, add yourself as a facebook fan (at link above) and make some noise in the comments sections below.

Senior Portraits

School is back in session and believe it or not, time will go by quickly. Now is the time to think about Senior Portraits. Senior Portraits are a great chance for students to show off who they have become.

The Three Amigos

When my sister in law asked me to photograph her kids, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get that all too often missed face-time. Sure, I see my nieces and nephew at the occasional family gathering, but there are way too many distractions and adult conversations to really get to spend time with the kids.

Carson and Sykes are polar opposite twins. They look and act very differently from one another. I like to think that this will be a great advantage for them as they get older. There will be a greater ability for them to become individuals while still maintaining their strong sisterly bond. Carson is a dark-toned tom-boy. Sykes is fair and more reserved and I sense she flies under the radar most of the time. We must have spent an hour that day just talking about this and that.

Skip just turned four. He’s the man in a female dominated household seeking out his place among the dolls and cookbooks. He’s hard to keep still but a joy to watch, as he moves from one facial expression to another. They are all equally marvelous and I can’t wait to spend more and more time with each of them.

Cà d’Zan Mansion: Grand. Romantic. Exquisite.

After photographing a wedding late last year at the Ringling Museum, we had an opportunity to return to view the grounds and thought it would be good idea to see what other opportunities the venue might offer.

High on our list was the Cà D’Zan Mansion. With 36, 000 square feet of Venetian Gothic architecture, 41 rooms and 15 bathrooms, the Ca D’Zan is breathtaking. Original construction of the mansion for John and Mable Ringling started in 1924. A six year comprehensive renovation was completed in 2002.  Inside and out, the Ca D’Zan is stunning and would be a dream-come-true venue for any wedding.  Although the interior is off limits for parties, the front grounds and rear deck are awesome.  The walkway leading up to the mansion is peppered with weaving, curving banyan trees and a compass of zodiac signs is inlayed in the pavement.  Looking out towards Longboat Key from the tower it seems as if you are floating on the sea. Very dreamy.
